Bedding
Always use safe, unscented bedding in your hamster’s enclosure.

- Paper bedding is recommended

- Aspen is the only safe wood-based bedding. However, if your hamster starts sneezing or having other respiratory issues, it may be too dusty for them.

- Bedding should be at least 6-8 inches high in order to encourage burrowing. In the wild, hamsters make intricate burrows 2-8 feet in depth in order to stay safe from predators.

- Additional substrate that is safe to add to the cage:
- Sand – also used for potty area
- Eco Earth
- Coco Peat
- Sphagnum Moss
- Toilet paper

- DO NOT USE:
- Cedar bedding – dangerous fumes
- Pine bedding – dangerous fumes
- Cotton and fluffy bedding – can cause intestinal impactions
- Softwood shavings – can contain mixture of dangerous woods
